I have little motivation to be out in the cold windy environment, but have some time on my hands, so thought it would be a good time to review some of my favorite pictures of 2009. They are my favorites for various reasons, some personal, some artisitc, and some for no apparent reason at all! Enjoy, and feel free to leave your feedback.

I went out today to see if I could get any pictures of the herd before winter arrived, but didn’t manage to find them. Apparently they have been getting harassed lately, so they are probably holed up pretty tight in the draws. They only thing that I did find other than cows was an abandoned gelding out on the HMA. This is a common problem around here, as I imagine it is elsewhere also. He was a good looking horse and surprisingly sound, although quite emaciated and I don’t imagine he will make it to winter. What a shame….

There has been a lot of media attention lately on the BLM and mustang herds. It has been making me want to go back and visit our own little herd. Although they are a small band compared to the beautiful Kiger mustangs (like our yearling filly, out of our Kiger HMA mare, Idaho Kiger Dreams), there are still close to 150 horses of all colors, and they are a sight to see. I think it is about time I make the drive to go visit them again, before it gets too cold!

Fall is a wonderful time in Idaho, with the weather still nice and the trees in full color. Now is also a great time to take family portraits to hang on your wall, as well as to use for all your Christmas pictures. Book before October 31st, and take advantage of our Fall Special - no sitting fee! Thats an hour-long session, free, a $150 value.

Yesterday I got the privilage of photographing Holly with her family while on vacation in Hagerman. I had Dakota there to help me, but this was such a great family, that I didn’t even need a smile producer! I wish my kids could be that great at group photos!

The draft horses have been kept busy this summer….first the Dairy Days Parade in Wendell, than the All-Horse parade in Gooding, and next weekend they will be heading up to Carey for their annual parade. If you can join us there, we’d be happy to see you, and Carey is a great town to visit!

You can now find the proofs for both the draft horse show and the Western Heritage Days Parade online. Enjoy, and let me know if you have any special requests!

I have decided to move the Kristina Abbey Photography/Abbey Ranch Sporthorse blog to its own site. Hopefully, it will be easier to manage and more enjoyable!
